Overview

This project involved designing and developing an interactive braille learning device aimed at helping children and first-time users learn braille through play. Housed in a custom 3D-printed enclosure, the device uses a Raspberry Pi to control solenoid-actuated braille cells, creating a refreshable tactile interface that combines touch, sound and interactive feedback to make learning more engaging.

The system features multiple game modes, audio cues and multisensory learning techniques to build braille recognition and confidence while keeping users motivated. The project explored the integration of hardware, software and user-centred design, demonstrating how accessible technology can be used to create an enjoyable and effective learning experience for visually impaired children.
